The Campus Parking & Transportation Association (CPTA) Conference 2025, hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), brought together mobility leaders, universities, and transit innovators to explore how campuses can move smarter, cleaner, and more efficiently. As a proud participant, Damera Corporation showcased how right-sized electric mobility solutions such as the Karsan eJEST are transforming university transportation across North America.

Throughout the conference, Damera shared insights on electrification, accessible charging solutions, and the operational advantages of compact electric shuttles. Our clients across North America are seeing measurable results: lower operating costs, reduced emissions, higher ridership, and more flexible service models. Right-sized mobility is shaping cleaner, more connected, and more student-friendly campuses.

A Growing Campus Mobility Movement

Universities are increasingly recognizing that transportation plays a defining role in student success. With many students lacking personal vehicles and campuses becoming larger and more complex, institutions are looking for ways to increase accessibility, reduce congestion, and support sustainability commitments.

Events like CPTA 2025 highlight how the shift toward microtransit—small, agile electric shuttles—aligns perfectly with these needs. Throughout the conference, the message was clear: the future of campus mobility is right-sized, electric, and student-focused.

Our Partnership With the University of Virginia

A major highlight of CPTA 2025 was the continued collaboration between Damera Corporation and the University of Virginia (UVA). UVA now operates five Karsan eJEST electric minibuses, which are becoming an integral part of its campus transit network.

Representatives from UVA — including Allison Day and Kendall Howell from University Transit Service (on the main photo) — shared how the eJEST fleet is helping them solve real transportation challenges:

  • Serving areas that are harder for students to reach
  • Replacing older diesel shuttles to maintain reliability
  • Creating a quieter, more comfortable passenger experience
  • Supporting the university’s long-term sustainability goals

The eJEST aligns perfectly with UVA’s guiding principle: “Excellent for a Purpose.”
Its blend of sustainability, design, and practicality reflects the university’s commitment to building a campus environment that is modern, inclusive, and purpose-driven.

“Our clients at UVA tell us they chose the Karsan eJEST because it fills the procurement gap and simply fits the campus — it looks ‘cute,’ is fully accessible, reaches narrow streets with ease, offers a wonderful riding experience, and is backed by excellent after-sales support from the Damera team,” said Roman Duplak, VP America Sales.

To support its electric fleet, UVA selected ABB Wallbox Level 2 chargers — compact and easy to install without major infrastructure upgrades — demonstrating how electrification can be simple, scalable, and cost-effective for campuses.

A Shared Vision for the Future

As CPTA 2025 made clear, a truly great university is one where innovation isn’t just taught — it’s lived. Mobility is central to that mission. When campuses provide inclusive, accessible transportation, they empower every student, faculty member, and visitor to participate fully in academic and social life.

Damera is proud to support that vision through partnerships with institutions like UVA, UTA, and many more across North America. Together, we are building campuses that are cleaner, more connected, and ready for the future of mobility.
