A new electric, on-demand public transit service launched in Brampton, Ontario in November 2025, giving riders a smarter and more flexible way to travel with Damera’s right-sized mobility solution — the Karsan eJEST.

The service, operated by Argo, uses our fully accessible, zero-emission vehicles and can be requested directly through the Argo smartphone app. Argo, and this deployment demonstrates how modern software, real-time routing, and right-sized electric vehicles can build a more connected and efficient mobility network in growing cities.

Argo Corp.  is a valued Damera client, a privately operated transit technology company. Argo transformes the municipality’s fixed-route system by introducing on-demand service through their app, delivered in partnership with the local government.

Riders simply select their pick-up and drop-off points, walk to a nearby Smart Stop, tap a PRESTO card, and travel for the same fare as Brampton Transit.

A New Way of Transit in Brampton

Brampton is one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, with dense urban areas where traditional fixed-route buses aren’t always the most efficient option. The City needed a flexible, environmentally friendly service that could:

  • Increase transit access in the downtown core
  • Offer reliable first- and last-mile connections
  • Integrate seamlessly with Brampton Transit and GO Transit
  • Support PRESTO fare payments
  • Operate with clean, fully electric vehicles

By integrating Damera’s dependable Karsan eJEST electric minibuses with Argo’s Smart Routing™ system with and our proven EV infrastructure expertise, the Brampton launch delivered a seamless, ready-to-scale on-demand service.

PRESTO Collaboration

Argo’s Brampton service is fully integrated with PRESTO, Ontario’s unified fare payment system managed by Metrolinx. This integration was made possible through an agreement between Argo, Metrolinx, and Brampton Transit, allowing Brampton Transit’s PRESTO payment hardware to be installed on Argo’s electric minibuses.

This means:

  • Riders pay the same fare as a Brampton Transit trip.
  • Transfers between Argo, Brampton Transit, and GO Transit are seamless under the One Fare Program.
  • Only PRESTO card payments are accepted on Argo vehicles (cash and paper tickets are not).
  • Argo vehicles are effectively treated as part of Brampton’s transit network from a fare-integration standpoint.

Damera’s Role

As the official Canadian distributor of the Karsan eJEST electric minibus, Damera played a central role in enabling Argo’s Brampton deployment.

1. Fleet Supply & Commissioning

Damera provided the electric minibuses used in Argo’s Brampton service, ensuring full compliance with FMVSS/CMVSS standards and accessibility requirements.

2. Charger Installation & Electrical Setup

Damera handled installation and commissioning of charging infrastructure, ensuring the fleet could operate reliably from day one.

This included:

  • Selecting appropriate chargers
  • Coordinating with electrical contractors
  • Ensuring safety, reliability, and uptime
  • Integrating charging schedules with Argo’s operational needs
